The 95% Behind Great Photography

Photography is 5% making pictures and 95% problem-solving. Before we raise a camera, we're solving problems—understanding your brand, planning logistics, anticipating challenges. The capture is easy when everything else is done right.

Who You're Working With

When you hire PUNA Photographic, you're hiring Jordan Naholowaa Murph directly. Every project is led by Jordan personally—creative direction, client communication, primary photography, quality control. That direct accountability is core to what we offer.

Jordan grew up a computer nerd in Hawaii before discovering photography at 17. He pursued both passions relentlessly—by 24, he was lighting covers for Sports Illustrated. He's the last Lighting Tech and Flash Wizard technician trained in SI's legendary tradition.

But Jordan was never just the photographer. At Time Inc., he also built the networks, workflows, and infrastructure that made elite sports photography possible—from the Rio Olympics to Super Bowls—while serving FORTUNE and ESSENCE magazines as a Level 3 field technician at high-profile events across the US and Canada. He founded Angels Photo Services, the LA Angels' first formal photo department, from scratch.

This rare combination—creative and technical expertise at elite levels—is what PUNA Photographic brings to every project. When additional resources are needed, we bring in photographers and editors from a trusted network built over two decades.

Rooted in Hawaii

Puna is the easternmost district on the island of Hawaii, where I was raised and where my worldview was formed. In Olelo Hawaii, puna means a spring of freshwater. It's a place where time stands still and new earth is created daily—authentic and grounded, while simultaneously revolutionary and, literally, groundbreaking.

For every paid project we book, we provide a Hawaiian small business or community organization with professional brand photography. This isn't a marketing program—it's how we operate. We believe in keeping Hawaiians in Hawaii by supporting the micro-businesses and grassroots nonprofits that are the backbone of island communities.
